Every Christmas since the 1950's for one night only a hidden gem of a neighborhood lights up the holiday spirit while lighting luminaries. Luminary Lane is a piece of Sioux Falls Holiday History that you need the inside scoop on or else you just might miss it!
I first learned of Luminary Lane at a Midtown Coffee Radio Hour live show recording where Nick and his neighbor Wes discussed the holiday tradition. Nestled in the Parkridge neighborhood, behind the Parkridge Galleria off 26th and Western, is an establish and distinguished old neighborhood that has been putting this event on for over 70 years.
This was my first attendance to Luminary Lane and the unseasonably warm weather lent itself to making this the perfect night to walk the lane and take in the beauty of all the lit luminaries on this special night. So what night can you catch Luminary Lane in the years to come? It may skip around from time to time due to where Christmas falls that year so I suggest following the Facebook Page for event updates and reminders. I have only been to one, but I do see what Luminary Lane continues to be a piece of Sioux Falls Holiday History.
